According to Wikipedia:
nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. It is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.
The nofollow attribute value is not meant for blocking access to content, or for preventing content to be indexed by search engines. The proper methods for blocking search engine spiders to access content on a website or for preventing them to include the content of a page in their index are the Robots Exclusion Standard (robots.txt) for blocking access and on-page Meta Elements that are designed to specify on an individual page level what a search engine spider should or should not do with the content of the crawled page.
If you consider nofollow attribute value needn't in your blog, you can change to dofollow with simple way. Go to “edit HTML” on layout, check on expand widget, find rel='nofollow' , and cut. Now, your blog is dofollow.

Thank you for explaining how to make a blogger blog 'follow'. I have decided yesterday to change my blogspot blog into dofollow, or simply follow. I understand that I may encounter more spam. I'll institute stricter moderation if needed, so it is not a problem.
BalasHapusI have followed your instructions to the 'T' and was simply able to remove rel='nofollow' tags from the relevant points in the Layout->Edit Html->Edit Template->Expand Widget Templates area.
However, as you will see, the links in comments are all still 'nofollow'. Here is the link to my blog:
Dispute annoying parking ticket blog
The second entry was my test post:
http://annoyingparkingticket.blogspot.com/2009/08/california-vehicle-code-cvc-div-11-cvc.html
You will see comments are all nofollow, even though I demonstrated in comment #6 that the template has rel='nofollow' removed. Note that '<>' were replaced by '[]' to push html through the comment form and publish it. Main thing, there is no nofollow in the template.
So I'm at a loss, and have no additional idea how to change my blogger into dofollow. I would really appreciate all replies pointing toward a solution. Thanks!
P.S.: Here is a link straight to comments. Please comment with your ideas:
